Vaak vraag ik mij af waarom ik zoveel tijd besteed aan het observeren en ook nog eens beschrijven van wat ik meemaak.
\nSoms heb ik er ook geen zin in.
\nDe laatste tijd steeds vaker niet.
\nDaarin kan ik een aantal lagen ontdekken.<\/p>\n

-Gewoon luiheid. En een neiginhg toe te geven aan.
\n-Een kosten-baten analyse die zegt: je aantal lezers weegt niet op tegen \u00a0 de inspanning die je er voor doet.
\n-Ik merk dat mijn in de wereld zijn deels wordt meebepaald door mijn
\nook bezig zijn met het observeren teneinde te kunnen beschrijven.
\n(Het verlangen van de fotograaf zonder camera rond te lopen).<\/p>\n

Maar uiteindelijk doe ik het voor mijzelf.
\nDat ik het ook en plein public doe is in zekere zin een bijkomstigheid.
\n(En zeker ook een geconditioneerde bijna karaktertrek die teruggaat op mijn christelijke \u00a0 \u00a0 opvoeding waar het begrip zonde garant staat voor\u00a0een deels ondergronds bestaan en de \u00a0 \u00a0 daaruit voortkomende weerstand \u00a0 tegen geheimhouding voor zover deze de ontkenning \u00a0 van vitale\u00a0levensfuncties betreft).<\/p>\n

Het gaat toch om wat ik al direct op mijn homepage zeg:<\/p>\n

Aren\u2019t we cute? We even can feel guilty for thinking we are not.<\/strong><\/em>
\nHuh?<\/strong><\/em>
\nReason enough for a permanent<\/strong><\/em> investigation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ik dacht hieraan toen ik bij Swami \/Dayananda Saraswiti het volgende las:<\/p>\n

“Since the mind has the capacity to commit an error, it has the
\n<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0capacity<\/strong>\u00a0to correct it too.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Nu ik dit citaat terug zocht, zie ik dat het staat in de door mij het dikst aangestreepte alinea van het boekje Talks on Upadesa Saram (Essence of the Teaching) of Ramana Maharshi door Swami\u00a0Dayananda.<\/p>\n

Het citaat is een toelichting op vers 26 van Ramana’s tekst.<\/p>\n

Ramana:
\nThe vision of one’s own Self is the well-abiding (of the mind) in the Self.
\nBecause of the nonduality of the Self, there is the natural (effortless) abidence in the Self.<\/p>\n

Dayananda:
\nWhat is meant by abiding? Who is to abide in what? A householder is one who abides in a house; the locative case “in a house” indicates a connection. Is it the ‘lower’ self abiding in the ‘Infinite Self’? No. Because if there is an infinite Self, there can not be a lower self; infinite includes everything; neither “abiding in the self” is union with atma! Self is already liberated. It is only because of ignorance that you take yourself to be limited. Knowledge destroys ignorance and you abide in yourself. Here abiding means abiding of the mind when the mind is no more ignorant, no more separate and does not commit an error. Self has no problem nor does the body say, “I have a problem”. It is the mind that has a problem. The mind, the I-notion, takes itself to be limited. This mind is to be informed and that is how the problem is to be settled. If you dismiss the mind, as you do in deep sleep, \u00a0there is no problem. But the problem comes back along with the mind. In the waking state you cannot dismiss the mind for ever. It will come back. So the problem needs to be solved. Since the problem belongs to the mind, the mind alone must solve it. Mind must understand that the ‘I’ is not anything it is construed to be; that it is free from limitations. Since the mind has the capacity to commit an error, it has the capacity to correct it too.<\/p>\n
